Gashirabwoba

New Classrooms The Diocese of Cyangugu was given a large plot of land at Gashirabwoba covered with Eucalyptus trees to build a school. 13 trees had to be removed for the school, but that was matched by a tree nursery with hundreds of young trees of several varieties. The Rwanda government is pleased with the six classes built on the land they gave the Church. Picture (right) shows the classrooms

St Matthews Nursery School was built after the genocide for the orphans on Mont Cyangugu. After three years six primary school classes were built. The Diocese has bought all the building plots below the school to build the first three years of secondary schooling, now called years 7, 8 and 9. The three classrooms and a library will be finished in time for the present P6 to start there in January. They will then need toilets, a rain water tank with hand washing basins and staff accommodation.

Pupils in the Classrooms The Diocese of Butare added to Shalom Guest House, with its eight en-suite bedrooms and lounge, a fully equipped Dining Room and Kitchen with staff quarters. Now a new Bishop, Nathan Gasatura, is installed in a renovated house and started his ministry with a big convention in the town's stadium where over 300 people pledged to follow Christ. The Diocese of Buye in the Province of Burundi is looking for funds to build an income generating Guest House in the growing and strategic town of Ngozi. This is fast overtaking Gitega as the second town of the country. The diocesan site for the building is very close to the office of the President of Burundi, whose home is at Buye. His home is only 100 yards from the Lawrence Barham Theological College, which is being repaired with funds from LBMT.
